Cage tells the story of three girls abducted into sex slavery in the cages of Kamathipura. The primary means of storytelling is through a series of dramatic photographs that share their journeys, from abduction to sex slavery and beyond. Hazel Thompson's harrowing and poignant photography and insightful story telling provides a call to action to Stop Sex Slavery.
All proceeds from the sale of this book go to the Stop Sex Slavery campaign run by Bombay Teen Challenge, an organization whose purpose is to save the lives of the women and children caught in the grasp of Mumbai's sex trade, of teens lost on the streets of the bustling city, and of those who need even the most rudimentary help in order to see tomorrow.
Taking inspiration from James Joyce's 'Dubliners'', between November 2008 and March 2009, six teams of writers and photographers each took a physical space or community within Hanoi and set out - using words, photographs, video and sound - to tell the everyday stories of people they encountered. The project was funded by The British Council.
